“«Sowiźrzał» stary zejdzie się w dary” [‘The Old Howleglas is Good for a Gift’]: About the Russian “Sowiest-Drał” and Its Old Polish Ancestor

Artykuł poświęcony jest rosyjskiej powieści „Sowiest-Drał” sprzed 1763 r., która stanowi adaptację staropolskiego „Sowiźrzała”. Na podstawie analizy odmian tekstu wskazane zostało polskie wydanie tekstu będące podstawą adaptacji (była to niedatowana edycja z pierwszej połowy XVIII w., reprezentująca czwartą redakcję polskiej wersji). Porównano również charakter zmian w rosyjskim „Sowiest-Drale” i pochodzącej z 1786 r. przeróbce polskojęzycznej „Kulhawiec cały w żartach”.The paper concerns the Russian novel “Sovest-Dral” written before 1763, which is an adaptation of the Old Polish text “Sowiźrzał”. The author proves that the Russian text is based on an undated early-18th-century edition of the fourth redaction of the Polish version. Furthermore, the changes in the Russian Sovest-Dral are compared with those in the Polish 1786 rewriting titled “Kulhawiec cały w żartach” [‘The Lame One, All in Jokes’]

Educational paths as an environmentally friendly form of sustainable tourism in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship

Due to their educational nature for children and adolescents and the protection of the components of the natural environment, educational paths play an essential role in developing sustainable tourism. They also influence  regional tourism development and, indirectly, tourism and service infrastructure. The article examines the  attractiveness of educational paths regarding tourism development and natural values. The paper indicates the elements of development that may contribute to the increase in tourist attractiveness and the volume of tourist traffic. A questionnaire survey and the scoring method were used to assess tourist attractiveness. The research results indicate that tourism development is vital to tourist attractiveness. Rola księży w upowszechnianiu książek w języku litewskim (na podstawie korespondencji do firmy Zawadzkich w Wilnie)

This article discusses examples of cooperation between the representatives of the Zawadzki publishing house in Wilno and catholic priests involved in distribution of books in the Lithuanian language in the Lithuania lands in mid-19th century. The sources of information are handwritten materials held in the Lithuanian State Historical Archives of Vilnius. Main object of publication are letters of catholic priests working in parishes, where Lithuanians dominate among the religious population. The article will also mention catholic priests from the Diocese of Samogitia – Jan Cyparewicz (Utena), Jan Darzyński (Kriaunos), Jacewicz (Anykščiai), Antoni Juszkiewicz (Vilkija), Jan Pacewicz (Užpaliai), Józef Sokołowski (Antazavė), Gustaw Tomkiewicz (Šiauliai), Szymon Warkałło (Šakiai). Their role was very important because catholic priesthood in the middle of 19th century belonged to the core group that formed intelligentsia from which originated a big part of activists in the Lithuanian national movement.Przedmiotem edycji są listy księży pracujących głównie w parafiach diecezji żmudzkiej, kierowane do wileńskiej księgarsko-wydawniczej firmy Zawadzkich z zamówieniami literatury w języku litewskim. Korespondencja pochodzi z kolekcji Zawadzkich, przechowywanej w Litewskim Państwowym Archiwum Historycznym. Autorami listów są Jan Cyparewicz (Uciany, 1865), Jan Darzyński (Krewno, 1863), Jacewicz (Onikszty, 1862–63), Antoni Juszkiewicz (Wilkija, 1862-63), Jan Pacewicz (Uszpol, 1863), Józef Sokołowski (Antuzów, 1871), Gustaw Tomkiewicz (Szawle, 1871), Szymon Warkałło (Szaki, 1863)

„Index Librorum, in Bibliotheca Ecclesiae Cathedralis Vilnensis“ z 1598 roku

In Lithuania the earliest collections of books were centered in churches and monasteries. One of them was the library in the Cathedral of Vilnius. „Index librorum, in Bibliotheca Eccles[iae] Cathedralis Vilnensis” was written in 1598 as a part of the inventory of the church. Publication of the inventory is supplemented with comments and an attempt to identify all titles of books. The framework of the collection of books was influenced by internal orders and dispositions of the church authorities as well as the wills of bishops and canons. The writings collected in the Cathedral library were fairly typical for such kind of institutions: the texts of the Church Fathers, theological and philosophical authorities of that time as well as juridical documents. It’s a very interesting historical source, whoch analysis helps us to reconstruct the picture of the intellectual output of priesthood in the diocese of Vilnius at the end of the 16th century.Przedmiotem niniejszej edycji jest pochodzący z końca XVI w. spis książek kościoła katedralnego w Wilnie „Index librorum, in Bibliotheca Eccles[iae] Cathedralis Vilnensis”, będący fragmentem dokumentu „Regestr Apparatow y ynszego sprzętu, złota y srebra; w koscielie S Stanisława Cathedralnym na zamku Wilienskim spisany y rewidowany w Roku Panskim 1598”. Powstał on w związku z wizytacją katedry przez Mikołaja Dycjusa i już w tym samym roku został uzupełniony przez dodatkowy wykaz książek przekazanych kościołowi katedralnemu po śmierci kanonika Mikołaja Koryzny. Spis księgozbioru jest znany przede wszystkim z kopii przechowywanej w Litewskim Państwowym Archiwum Historycznym, edycja zaś została przygotowana na podstawie księgi wizytacji przechowywanej w Bibliotece Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego. W omawianym rejestrze księgi spisano zgodnie z układem w skrzyniach i na półkach, całość obejmuje 149 pozycji (165 egzemplarzy). Jak wskazują zapisy uzupełnione identyfikacją bibliograficzną w księgozbiorze katedralnym gromadzone teksty o tematyce teologicznej i filozoficznej, prawniczej i historycznej

Pozostałości księgozbiorów ziemiańskich w Wojewódzkiej i Miejskiej Bibliotece Publicznej w Bydgoszczy - przyczynek do badań nad proweniencją polskich starych druków

The collection of old prints of the Regional and Municipal Public Library in Bydgoszcz contains 8,242 titles, including 1,572 Polish publications, which were studied in terms of provenance. It served for selection of copies that in the past were part of landed gentry book collections, donated later to the Main Public Library of Bydgoszcz. It appeared that in the process of collecting books of landed gentry provenance, there were three stages. The first one took place in the 1920s, when donations from scientific societies started coming to the former German, and thus Germanized institution with sparse book collection. In this way, the Bydgoszcz library received a significant number of duplicates from the Scientific Society of Płock, which was administering the Zieliński Library. The second one is related to World War II, during which manor houses of the gentry along with their libraries were destroyed or plundered. The saved parts of these collections were incorporated to the resources of the Bydgoszcz library even during the occupation or just after the end of warfare (1946-1953). It applies in particular to the local gentry, including the Kruszyński and Sczaniecki families in Nawra, the Kalksteins in Pluskowęsy, and the Ponińskis in Kościelec Kujawski. The last group comprises prints purchased at book auctions starting from the 1960s to this day. It is the most diverse collection, consisting of single copies, coming from various parts of our country (e.g. the Kleniewskis of Kluczkowice, the Celińsckis of Ceków)
